Holbrook listen to Tim Peake

Our trip to hear Tim Peake - The Astronaut

by Jack, Tegan and Keira.

Tim PEake photo 1On Wednesday 2nd November 2016, 14 lucky people from school went on the most exciting trip to listen to Tim Peake who was visiting Portsmouth to talk about his experiences on the Space Station.

You would think that travelling to Portsmouth Guildhall would be simple wouldn’t you? Well, you would be wrong! Due to an accident in Fareham, out travelling arrangements were suddenly changed - not exactly the start to a trip that we wanted. We ended up travelling by minibus, ferry and then an extremely quick walk to the venue but it was really worth it.Tim PEake photo 2

When we arrived, we were greeted by the organisers and shown to a massive hall where we all had to sit with the other chatty and over-excited children. When Tim Peake came out, there was lots of cheering and clapping and then he started to share his amazing and interesting facts.

He said that to dock or join up with the ISS, you have to fly your Soyaz (very carefully) into one of the ISS docking parts (sounds like a ship!). He also mentioned how the Earth looks from above and that he had taken loads of pictures to remind him of all his adventures. He even played water ping-pong, although we’re not quite sure how! However, it wasn’t all fun and games - sometimes the toilet broke and it was too far for a plumber to come out so they had to fix it themselves!

We all thought that it was one of the best trips we had been on.

If you ever have the opportunity to meet him...you must go. It’s the best experience.
